Dr. Rachael Gruen
Instructional Coach & Curriculum Specialist, Embarc
Dr. Rachael Gruen is an instructional coach and curriculum specialist for Embarc, where she supports meaningful experiential learning for both teachers and students. Prior to this role, Rachael worked as an ABE/ASE instructor for Center for Literacy’s FAST program while pursuing her doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction. Her passion and expertise with ABE/ASE concerns alternative pathways for high school equivalency that leverage the skills and cultures of the communities the adult learners come from. Rachael led the humanities department in creating research-based, culturally responsive alternative curriculum. In addition to teaching undergraduate and masters level teachers and pre-service teachers in disciplinary literacy methods, she has served on Illinois' Instructional Leadership Working Group, creating a successful framework for identifying, training, and supporting instructional leaders state-wide.
