UIC Parent and Family Engagement Programs provide a variety of family literacy services to Chicago’s Head Start and Child Care families through our Parent Outreach and Family Start (FAST) Learning Center programs. Parents enroll in GED and ESL classes and participate in family literacy workshops to support their children’s education. Additionally, parents complete financial literacy and education and employment readiness trainings to support their career and life goals.
UIC Parent and Family Engagement Programs serve over 4,000 families each year and are committed to helping parents develop the knowledge, skills, and resources to be full partners in their children’s education. The teams also work with parents to promote economic self-sufficiency so that Head Start and Child Care families are better prepared to achieve their educational and financial goals.
UIC Parent Engagement Programs support the Head Start Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework. Click here to view HS Engagement Framework.
