The Resource Center for Autism and Developmental Delays provides support for those who care for, teach and serve children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental delays. RCADD serves families currently enrolled in an Early Head Start or Head Start program as well as others throughout the Chicagoland area.

RCADD offers support at no cost to our patrons in the form of resources, referrals, training and ongoing consultations for families and professionals.

“EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN”

RCADD FINDS MIDDLE GROUND AT UIC!

The Resource Center for Autism & Developmental Delays is happy to announce the opening of our new center site at 1640 Roosevelt Rd. Chicago, IL 60608 Room 650. Our new campus location is centrally located between both previous RCADD sites to provide a citywide equitable access to services. We have a new phone number (312-413-4441) and a new email address (rcadd@uic.edu)!  Onsite service scheduling will begin April 1, 2024.

El Centro de recursos para el autismo y los retrasos en el desarrollo se complace en anunciar la apertura de nuestro nuevo centro en 1640 Roosevelt Rd. Chicago, IL 60608 Sala 650. The Resource Center for Autism & Developmental Delays (RCADD) continues to make progress in transitioning to our new University of Illinois site location at 1640 W. Roosevelt.

We appreciate your ongoing patience and support as we complete the final leg of our journey.  We are happy to report that we plan to open sometime this April.  Please stay tuned to our newsletter, as we will be announcing an opening date soon!

Services and assistance in Spanish will no longer be available after 12-21-22. Spanish materials are still available, but we encourage you to call on behalf of Spanish speaking families to access resources for them. We strongly encourage our Spanish-speaking patrons to continue using our services, and to bring another family member or friend who may be able to translate on your behalf. We will be using Google Translate to correspond to any email messages in Spanish.

Support for Families & Professionals Heading link

If you are a family member or professional responsible for a child in the Early Head Start/Head Start program we invite you to make an appointment to visit RCADD for support. While visiting our center you can take advantage of the following complimentary support offerings:
  • Resources

    Our lending library provides a variety of materials including books, games, software and visual supports for use at home or school. Our materials are designed to teach social skills, reduce anxiety, promote communication, and help to clearly define expectations for children.

    We invite families and caregivers to take advantage of the variety of complimentary resources available at our center. Through our RCADD Lending Library we provide books, software, games, and visual supports that are designed to help children with autism spectrum disorder and developmental delays improve language development and communication, social skills, academic achievement, sensory processing and assist with the activities of daily living.

    You’ll also have access to our computers, color printer, laminator, Velcro and manipulatives to aid you in creating adapted books, behavioral charts, schedules, and other activities to help support children’s goals.

  • Referrals

    We serve as the link to relevant services, resources and trainings including assessments, support groups, recreational activities, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respite services, advocacy, social skills groups, trainings, upcoming community opportunities and assistance with understanding your child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).

    If your child has been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or other developmental delay or if you are concerned that your child is exhibiting some of the early warning signs of autism, the staff at the Resource Center for Autism and Developmental Delays can assist you with identifying the appropriate resources and referrals for your specific needs.

    We provide basic case management and referral information to connect families and professionals with the following services and resources:

    • Assessments
    • Support Groups
    • Recreational Activities
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Speech Therapy
    • Advocacy
    • Social Skills Groups
    • Parent/Professional Trainings
    • Upcoming community opportunities

Only those with appointments will be given parking passes for Lot F4.

Only visitors with appointments will be given parking passes to Lot F4. Visitors must request a parking pass upon visiting RCADD.

Street parking is on Roosevelt just south of Ashland. There is also free street parking on Ashland just east of Roosevelt. Both of these areas are two blocks away from 1640 W Roosevelt.

Metered parking, managed by the City of Chicago, is offered on Paulina which is the side road just next to the building. There is also a UIC parking structure located on Paulina two blocks away from the building.
