AMERICORPS MEMBERS – GETTING THINGS DONE
FANTAZIA BERRY Heading link
I graduated from Chicago State University with my bachelor’s degree of Science in Criminal Justice and was searching for full-time employment. My interest was justice and advocacy.
It is my pleasure to serve at FAST South where I help adults advocate for themselves and their families. I’ve had the opportunity to oversee community service events and find myself both personally and professionally. This aligns with my goal to start an organization to promote breastfeeding in low income minority neighborhoods.
My education award will be used to complete my master’s degree.
My advice to a new member: Know what you are agreeing to do and the scope of the commitment. Set personal and professional goals which will keep you motivated and moving progressively through your service time.

AMBER FLOYD Heading link
I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign pursuing my Master of Social Work Degree.
I am currently serving in the Volunteer Resource Program where I enjoy interacting one-on-one with community organizations through individual site support meetings.
Currently, I am pursuing my Doctor of Social Work Degree at Aurora University. After my service year ends, I will be seeking employment that enable me to utilize my education to help the community.
My Education Award will be used to further my education.
A new member should have a measure of selfish reasoning for joining AmeriCorps. They want to be intentional as to why they are interested in becoming a volunteer for eleven months. They will need this inspiration during difficult times.
