Juanita served two years as an AmeriCorps member under Literacy Volunteer of America, AmeriCorps Vista Project from April 1999 to April 2001. After completing her second year as an AmeriCorps member, she accepted a temporary Clerical Assistant position at UIC Center for Literacy FAST program where she facilitated basic computer training for Head Start parents.
Juanita has 20 years of professional office administrative and over 10 years community partnership experience. She skillfully manages administrative duties and patron relations for the UIC Center For Literacy Chicago Center for Early Education. There she performed office administrative work, facilitated computer training, and often managed the office in the absence of the Director.
Integrity and delivering outstanding services have always been very important to Juanita. She believes that repeat customers speak volumes about the loyalty and trust of an organization. When transitioning over to her new position as the CFL Community Partnership Specialist, she used her transferable skill to build a rapport when reaching out to the Chicago Early Learning sites for partnership. Since Juanita joined the CFL Community Partnership office, UIC Center For Literacy FAST Programs has partnered with over 300 Chicago Early Learning sites, and more than half are repeated sites.
