SARAH OGETO

Professional Learning Coordinator

Social Services/Family Engagement Professional Learning Network (FEPLN)

About

Ogeto is the professional learning coordinator for FEPLN.  She has been with the team for about two years and is excited in being part of essential work at CFL in building thriving communities.  As a mom of two, she believes that families matter.
Prior to joining UIC's Center for Literacy , she wore multiple hats at the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The one dearest to her was working across the state to deepen professional capacities and strengthening infrastructures around family engagement.  At ISBE, she co-authored the family engagement framework and worked with stakeholders in building a professional development model for ISBE's statewide systems of support.  Throughout her career she takes a hands-on, strategic, evidence-driven approach in developing systems, policies and equitable practices that build relational trust, empower learning communities, and achieve a shared vision.
Ogeto serves on her son’s Local School Council as the vice chair. She also is the board chair for Community Organizing and Family Issues (COFI)--a not for profit that harnesses the power of family voice in action.  She is a member of the National Association for Family, School and Community Engagement and the Illinois P-20 Council Family and Community Engagement Committee. Ogeto is finishing up her Masters in Education this year and has her undergrad in Management.
